Marketing For Chiropractors

Marketing For Chiropractors

When it comes to marketing a chiropractor practice, the best results will come from implementing a consistent system for predictable results. You will have to do a certain amount of things to be able to get yourself customers and as a chiropractor, you will want to start marketing your practice in the best ways possible. If you can, starting it before you actually open the business could prove beneficial. You want to be able to be successful with your business, so getting customers in the door is vital to your success.

What Are The Best Ways To Reach Out?

You will need to stimulate referrals every week, and you will need to implement a system that will get new customers to you. This could be a special deal for people who send other people to your business or you could offer some free time with you or some time off with the business. This will get more people to your business and can be considered a key point in chiropractor marketing. You have to make sure that you can get new patients every week until you have the appropriate number of customers, as good chiropractor marketing will be designed with that in mind.

You will need to be able to accommodate your business for the new patients that are coming to it so make sure you have the appropriate time and items needed to keep up with the steady increase of customers. The more customers you have, the better your business will do. With good chiropractor marketing, you will realize that these people are the potential for even more customers. Keep in mind there may be things you will have to do in the future to balance out the increase, and one such thing may be adding on to the business or moving the business to another spot.

If you want to look reputable as a chiropractor, one chiropractor marketing strategy would be to add a research-based patient education program. This way you can give your patients the proper information to keep them in better shape with their bodies. Having this educational program, at least once a month can be a real benefit to getting more customers to your business.

Another important chiropractor marketing strategy is to try to get your patients to pay willingly with cash, as this keeps the money up-to-date. You will not have to wait for additional money to be in your account so you also will not have to worry about extra bills that are charged in fees with credit cards. Insurance companies take a while to pay, therefore the best option out there is cash.

With a good chiropractor marketing strategy, your staff will handle and track the referrals that are going through your business for you. You cannot do everything, so give some of the load to someone else that is in the business and make sure you remember what your purpose is and be enthusiastic to your customers every day. This will make them like you personally, and they will feel connected with you and will keep coming back.

Help answer the question about chiropractor

Is it better to work out before or after a chiropractor adjustment?
I've been visiting the chiropractor 1-2 times a week just to keep my neck and back pain in check. I also like to work out including running, ab exercises, etc. I was planning on going to the gym before my adjustment and then just thought it might be better to do it the other way around because I know that the muscles in your neck have to heal after an adjustment. So- would it be better to work out after my neck's been adjusted? Thanks for the knowledgable answers.

ANY private practice practitioner has a battle on their hands – getting patients, and keeping patients. Until you are firmly established, you deal with it. MDs and any other allied professional is a business owner, and as soon as you have to pay bills and payroll, you get that. You have to have some marketing initiative, or hire someone who does.

As a therapist who has worked in a Chiro office I found that referrals from the therapist are better than any marketing. Though, contest entries is about the best. Offer an hour massage to the winner but call everyone who enters and offer them a free 30 minute "prize". They get the chance to upgrade for $$ and you can sell them when they are on the table with your abilities.
Many DC's hire massage students as CA's because of your training in A&P, it saves them alot of time and $$ in training. It is a great way to learn therapies, time management and Chiropractic theory. This will come in very handy in the future when you are building a practice of your own. The better way to work with DC's is to rent space, get referrals ect.
Most DC's do not pay LMT's well, because in most states they are legally able to train their CA's to perform basic massage techniques and pay them $8.00 -$10.00 an hour. If you can work with a DC on a commision basis, rent basis, or as an Independent contractor you will have more freedom in your massage, and will receive a higher level of respect from the DC, as it removes you from the status of employee.
Keep in mind that DC's can get territorial about their patient
treatments and if they feel that you have over stepped your
boundaries they will end their assosiation with you. So be very
clear what your responsibilities and what your duties are,
preferablely in writing. Things will run smoother in the long run.
    Good Luck-

Right now may not be the time for you to work from home. It may just be that now is the time for you to focus on your full time job and whatever else you have going on. Try the work at home thing later or when you are ready to sit down and do what you have to do to market it.

More than likely these package deals you speak of are for wellness care, and not acute/chronic care.

Acute/chronic care is when someone goes in to a chiropractor for a chief complaint. The chiropractor should have a general idea of how long this will take to be fixed, but everyone's situation is different, so it may be more, and it may be less. This makes it difficult to have a package deal. Some chiropractors do charge a flat rate for a "package" of treatments for a particular chief complaint, but I personally as a chiropractic student view this as unethical, and this is not something I will do when in practice. Typically though chiropractors do not put together package deals for acute care, or care for people with a chief complaint. There are many different ways chiropractors accept payment, through insurance, medicare and workman's compensation are three big ones, and none of these allow for package deals.

Wellness care on the other hand is different, it is using chiropractic without having a chief complaint to gain the benefits of preventing future injuries, as well as the benefits of having your body function at maximum efficiency. This is why professional athletes usually get adjusted, to function at the absolute peak their body can perform. There is more and more research in regards to chiropractic wellness care (though currently not nearly enough research yet in regards to wellness care) A recent study performed at my college showed that the Logan Basic technique is effective at lowering blood pressure, other studies include some epidemiological studies in regards to enhanced immunity due to regular adjustments, as well as chiropractic wellness care and the treatment of IBS, asthma and a multitude of other problems. It is these problems that chiropractors deem as wellness care, and can ethically put together package deals.

I'm not so sure about discounts for referrals, I don't know that it is expressly illegal, as my orthodontist had a referral program in place around 5 years ago. So it may be that it is legal to have referral programs in place for elective treatments, such as braces, or chiropractic care, but not legal for a cardiologist to have a referral program.

As far as other slick marketing goes, unfortunately there are those minority of chiropractors that are Svengali's to some extent, but the vast majority of chiropractors are honest people who want to help people get and stay well. Keep in mind that the good chiropractors out there aren't typically the ones who are taking out a full page ad in the yellow pages, or a billboard next to the interstate, they are full simply due to word of mouth and getting results.

The fact of the matter is Chiropractic works! No matter how many close-minded '60s era medical doctors such as samharveymd are doing the disservice to their patients telling them that Chiropractic doesn't work, the fact of the matter is this: If chiropractic didn't work it wouldn't be around, and I wouldn't be putting myself through a 10 semester (30-40 class hours per week) program after getting my bachelor's degree, I would have went to PT or medical school.

The main thing you have to think of when you market to a group is what "need" will you be filling? Yes, massage, but what ways does it benefit the chiropractor?

    For example:
Don't just be a chiropractor…be THE chiropractor. Adding personal touches to a patient's experience creates customer satisfaction and the best referral source you could have….your patient.

Think about all the things that benefit the chiro.

well if he's like most chiropractors he has at least one Giant ad in the Yellow Pages.

That is a complete waste of money.

He pays…$300 at least …and likely $600 or more every month …for an ad….which sits in a closed book 99% of the year…right next to all of his competitors…so if his prospect didn't know what their options were before opening the book…they do now.

He really just needs to have a tiny ad or be alphabetically listed.

Big ads do not outpull small ones….color does not ouptull black and white….and 80% of what comes out of a yellow pages salesman is twisted truth…and thus…fraud in my opinion.

Direct Mail that is carefully crafted, will generate a far better return.

That $300 to $600 a month spent on a very professional looking post card with an outstanding offer, can be placed in front of 1000 to 2000 demographically targeted prospects, or previous customers each and every month.

That is 1000 people being forced to see his ad versus, him waiting for someone to open that book.

Well done direct mail (put together by direct mail professionals…because they know how to make it work) can have as much as a 10% response…but what if only 2% (national average) respond…thats at least 20 per month…..240 per year….does his YP ad bring in 240 per year? I'd bet 8 of my 10 fingers it doesn't even come close.

So besides the actual cash he's dumping into his YP ads, rather than the much more aggressive direct mail method…and those 240 people are going to visit his competition….he is thus losing those sales…not to mention the repeat visits from those people…how much does that ad up to over a year? ….tens of thousands….and that is the true cost of his YP ads. …Tens of thousands of ADDITIONAL revenue that could be in his bank account by years end that wasn't in there last year simply by putting his YP money into direct mail, and even supporting it with radio ads and a good referral system…which will help each of those 240 bring in one or more of their peers.

Passive advertising ( ads that just sit and wait for someone to see them) is the least effective form of advertising…and the yellow pages represents the EXTREME in passive advertising.
